Add to your list of states that will soon require all sixth-grade girls to be vaccinated with Merck’s Gardasil vaccine: New Mexico. A spokesman for the governor of New Mexico stated that they are on the verge of becoming the latest state to require the vaccine to prevent the sexually transmitted virus that can cause cervical cancer. Gardasil is a vaccine that was approved by the federal government, and it protects against the Human Papillomavirus (HPV).
In a controversial move the state House approved the bill and it seems like the Governor of New Mexico, Bill Richardson, will sign it into legislation once it’s in his hands.
