More States debating the use of Merck & Co. Gardasil for Vaccination against HPV

The AP is reporting that more and more states are considering legislation that would mandate the use of the new drug Gardasil from Merck & Co. that protects against the sexually transmitted virus called HPV (Human Papillomavirus).

Massachussetts Governor, Deval Patrick has a budget proposal that would make the vaccine free to all girls 9 to 18 years of age who want it. No details on how they would acquire it but i’m sure they would need parental consent.

Colorado lawmakers are also debating whether to allow the vaccine to be mandatory for sixth-grade girls unless parents sign a form to opt out.
